Parq on event days

Game day downtown, visiting Parq

Parq Casino sits within walking distance of BC Place and Rogers Arena. On event days that means fuller trains, a busier parkade and more people on Smithe Street. Entry rules stay the same.

01Where Parq sits

Parq Casino is at 39 Smithe Street, inside the Parq Vancouver complex. Parq's own parking page says the site is within walking distance of BC Place, Rogers Arena, Plaza of Nations and the False Creek Seawall.

When a game or concert lets out, the casino shares its sidewalks with the crowd. For the venue basics, see the Parq Casino page.

02Getting there by SkyTrain

Parq lists two stations nearby:

  • Stadium–Chinatown (Expo Line), 850 m away
  • Yaletown–Roundhouse (Canada Line), 800 m away

Expect busier platforms before an event starts and right after it ends. The walk is short but uncovered, so in the usual drizzle a hood helps more than optimism. Route details are on the SkyTrain and bus page.

03Parking on an event day

Parking is paid at all times and charged by licence plate. Parq publishes its self-parking and valet rates as non-event day rates and says rates may change with demand. Event-day prices are not on that table, so check Parq's parking page before you drive.

Pay stations at the elevator lobbies on each level take cards and mobile wallets. Only the Level 1 pay station takes cash.

04Entry rules do not change

The crowd outside makes no difference at the door. Parq is 19+. Since June 26, 2023, every visitor to a BC casino has had to show government-issued photo ID, which security scans on entry.

Bring the original document; photos and copies are not accepted. The accepted list is on casinosbc.com. A ticket stub does not count as ID.

05Eating before or after

These outlets at Parq are listed by the operator's site, casinosbc.com:

  • Honey Salt: farm-to-table restaurant using BC ingredients
  • MRKT East: Asian street food
  • D/6 Bar & Lounge: 6th floor of The DOUGLAS, with a covered rooftop patio, live music, DJs and sports on screens

Hours and menus are published by the venue. If you want a table around kick-off or the final whistle, it is reasonable to assume others had the same idea. The Parq listing on casinosbc.com has current details.

06Timing your exit

The simplest way to avoid the rush is to leave before the event ends or wait until after it clears. Rideshare and taxis are available outside the casino, though pickup lines may be longer on event nights.

Later at night, TransLink's NightBus routes leave from Howe & Dunsmuir or Seymour & Granville from about 1:30 a.m. You will need to make your own way there from Parq. Last-train times from the nearby stations are not confirmed here, so check translink.ca. More is on the late night page.

07A busy night is still a night out

A crowd and a long wait for a ride can stretch a visit. Set your time and budget before you arrive. GameSense Advisors are on site at every BC casino. Gambling Support BC is free and open 24/7 at 1-888-795-6111. See Support for more.
