01What this page covers, and what it does not
This guide's detailed pages cover the two casinos inside the City of Vancouver: Parq Casino downtown and Hastings Casino in East Vancouver. Those pages have addresses, parking, stations and the gaps in what each venue publishes.
For the casinos below, this guide has not yet gathered verified addresses, hours, station distances or parking rates. So each gets one neutral line and no numbers. For live open or closed status, use the planner on the home page. For anything else, check the casino's own website before you go.
02Six casinos in the wider region
- Grand Villa Casino Burnaby: the name places it in Burnaby.
- River Rock Casino Resort: a casino resort in Richmond. Directions are not yet verified here.
- Starlight Casino New Westminster: the name places it in New Westminster.
- Cascades Casino Delta: the name places it in Delta.
- Great Canadian Casino Vancouver: despite the name, it is not one of the two casinos inside the City of Vancouver.
- Elements Casino Surrey: the name places it in Surrey.
That is deliberately thin. A wrong station on a rainy night costs more than a missing one.
03The same rules at every BC casino
Some things do not change at the city limits. According to BCLC and the province:
- 19+ only. BCLC says all players must be 19 or older to use its products and facilities.
- Photo ID at the door. Since June 26, 2023, every visitor to a BC casino must show original, government-issued photo ID. Photos or copies are not accepted. Security scans it and checks it against the list of people barred from gambling facilities. The accepted list is on casinosbc.com.
- One loyalty program. Encore Rewards is a BCLC program that works at all casinos in BC.
- GameSense on every floor. BCLC has GameSense Info Centres and GameSense Advisors in every BC casino.
- No smoking or vaping indoors. Provincial law covers casinos, with a 6-metre buffer around doorways, air intakes and open windows.
- Cash rules. Buy-ins of $10,000 or more in cash, bank drafts or certified cheques within 24 hours need a source-of-funds declaration. Identity is verified once buy-ins or payouts reach $3,000 in a day.
04Getting there and back
This guide has no verified transit details for these six venues yet, so check TransLink's trip planner before you set out. The By SkyTrain and bus page covers the two Vancouver casinos.
For the ride home, TransLink's NightBus runs every 20 to 30 minutes, seven nights a week. Routes run between downtown and Richmond (N10), Coquitlam Central Station (N9), Surrey Central Station (N19) and Macdonald (N22), among others. Whether any of them stops near a particular casino is not in this guide's notes. The Late night page has more on the downtown pickup points.
05If it stops being fun
Game Break, BCLC's voluntary self-exclusion program, applies at all BC gambling facilities. Enrolling at one casino covers the others. For a conversation instead, Gambling Support BC is free and runs 24/7 at 1-888-795-6111. More is on the Support page.
